 HVAC

Getting HVAC quotes for your project will be one of the easier part of your build because they companies are always very customer/forward facing and easy to find. Choosing the right system at the right price is the more difficult part. My simplest advice is to read online reviews and then contact 3 companies with your home plans for bids.

I went with a forced air heat pump HVAC heating & cooling system. I upgraded to an electronic air filter for better air quality and added an HRV for fresh air. The install also included them running the vents for the bathroom fans.

This type of system allows me to efficiently pull heat out of cold air down to 5 degrees F in the winter, have air conditioning in the summer, and whole house air movement which I like. I also have a wood burning fireplace to heat the home up even cheaper if desired.

My entire system installed was $12,500 by Whitefish Heating

To the left you can see the main metal air return for the house. This is one part of the house build I couldn’t foresee, as it is exposed beyond the finished drywall. If I was building this home again I would make the interior room walls 2x6 so this could be fully hidden:
